This campground is located on a north facing slope so be prepared for mostly dark and chilly especially if you're tenting. The RV site (3) we parked on wasn't level. All RV sites are next to the highway so there is some road noise. The electrical infrastrucure is inadequate. We had a 30 amp hookup but a draw of anything over 15 amps would drag the voltage down to under 108V which is unacceptable in my book. We had to make sure we only used one high current appliance at a time. I couldn't really recommend this campground unless you're just using it for a stop over. The best feature of the campground is the overnight boat moorage with a dock and a couple of picnic tables. Great view from there with plenty of sea life (seals, stars, crabs, and fish). There is a boat launch but you have to time boat launches and retrievals with the tides. When the tide is out it's unusable.
Only 6 hookup sites available at this park and all are in a deep woods setting. The small lake is stocked with trout and a very popular fishing spot. Lake also has nice roped off swimming area for the kids (none under 4 allowed in the water). Many folks had kayaks, inflatable rafts, canoes, and small row boats. Motor boats are not allowed on the lake. Close to the lake is a small concession stand with hot dogs, other small snacks, and bait. This campground also has a nice little playground and a couple of large open areas. There's also several covered locations for group functions.
Serviced sites 1 through 60 have all new facilities to include new pavement, showers, heads, fire pits, picnic tables, and hookups. Many miles of trail, jetty, or beach hiking/walking available to those so inclined. There is also two accessible light houses and a comprehensive interpretive center for the history buffs all within two miles of the camp sites.
This campground is at the tail end of a major overhaul. All hookups are brand new, new picnic table, new fire pit, and all sites have been repaved. There was a new shower/restroom facility near by but we didn't use it. Our site was unbeatable with a 200 foot path directly to the huge beach. Miles of trails in the woods or on the beach. There's also a restored operational lighthouse just a couple of miles away.
The camping sites are huge with lots of room between sites. There's a day use park right next door with lots of trees and large open areas. The night we stayed there the wind surfers and kite boarders put on a good show for us. There's a couple of train tracks close by that can annoy or delight depending on your perspective. If you're a light sleeper the trains will wake you up.
This RV Park has lots of tent sites. Big rigs have to park in a side by side open area in the middle of the park. We had a nice secluded site next to the horse stables (site 44). They have 23 horses for beach rides. They also have small cabins on site that include cooking and showering facilities. Lots of rabbits roam the park for added entertainment value.
Site was too narrow to deploy slide-out and awning at same time. No picnic tables and no good place to put out camp chairs. Facility had just been redone so all hook-ups were in great shape. Convenient to everything because it was right downtown, but consequently lots of road noise.
